Breaking: Nigeria, Ghana, Côte D’Ivoire, Liberia Meet Over Insecurity

Tuesday, June 22, 2021

Nigeria joined Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Liberia in Banjul at a regional conference to discuss insecurity in West Africa.

The conference, organised by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in partnership with Denmark, had the theme ‘Domestication of Atrocity Prevention Norms at the State Level.’

The conference was organised to check the surge in atrocity crimes in the West African sub-region and the adoption of renewed strategies to combat the surge.

KAIPTC Commandant, Maj.-Gen. Francis Ofori, while speaking at the conference, said atrocity prevention was critical to human protection and sustenance of peace and stability, especially in West Africa.

According to him, the situation in the region is worrisome given security challenges ranging from recent democratic reversals, inter-ethnic conflicts, evolving threats of violent extremism, and governance deficits.

“This conference is being organised at a time when states are increasingly being challenged to take up their primary responsibilities to protect their populations from egregious crimes like genocide, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.

“Indeed, the commission of these crimes in the past have had dire consequences on peace and stability of countries such as Rwanda, Liberia, and Cote d’Ivoire, to mention just a few. In spite of this troubled past and the promise of ‘never again’ policy initiatives and state-level implementation of atrocity prevention norms is limited,” he said.

Mr Ofori added that KAIPTC undertook a four-country study in Nigeria, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire, and the Gambia between March and May 2021 to understand the status of implementation of the responsibility to protect ( R2P).

He stated that various reports generated from the study are expected to generate discussions and debates to inform policy on the domestication of the R2P norm in the region.

A representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Serigne Ka, said the conference was borne out of a Security Council meeting held in Accra.

Nigeria squints As Agitations For Self Determination gains momentum

That Nigeria, the world's biggest dark country, is at an intersection is right now an agreement both inside and outside the lines of the country. Dread about the eventual fate of the country and about a potential separation of the previous British state has kept on mounting, particularly since the start of the year 2021. A sign that the dread is genuine was communicated by no other individual than the Nigerian President himself, Muhammadu Buhari in his start of Ramadan message to Nigerian Muslims.

President Buhari, in an articulation gave by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, approached Nigerian Muslims to dismiss voices that will in general reason division in the country as they leave on the blessed month of Ramadan. The assertion read: "President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday invited the start of Muslims' blessed month of Ramadan, which denotes the beginning of 30 days of fasting.

"In a message to the country to stamp the event, President Buhari implored Allah to acknowledge our penances and increment the solidarity, fortitude, harmony and flourishing of the country. "He asked Muslims in the nation to practice persistence and resilience and reject voices that try to isolate the country. "He likewise encouraged all residents to show sympathy to the large numbers of the less supplied and recall those that have been dislodged by struggle in their foundation and supplications in this significant period."

The President from the assertion perceived that there are expanded 'voices' requiring the separation of the country and a high number of residents have been dislodged by clashes that has effectively pushed the country to the edge. Nigerians accept that everywhere on the country, viable signs flourish to propose that things are not on the money and that aside from solid advances are taken by the public authority and different political entertainers and heads of thought in the various areas of the country, things will genuinely deteriorate and hit the pot.

In the South-West, a locale up to this point viewed as malleable, meek and un-yearning with regards to self assurance or utilizing perhaps the most utilized words in the country today, withdrawal, a recharged force for the Oduduwa Republic, advanced by a diverse horde of self-assurance bunches has arisen. To drive their interest for the Oduduwa Republic home, the gatherings, under the initiative of Professor Banji Akintoye's Ilana Omo Yoruba, held a self-assurance rally in Ibadan, the provincial base camp of the South-West a week ago. For the gatherings, the convention, that at first looked abandoned by the police, who assumed control over its unique scene, was a significant explanation that they mean business and are prepared to seek after their fantasy of a Yoruba republic. Aside the center Yoruba states, members came from Delta, Edo, Kwara and Kogi States, communicating their preparation for the Oduduwa Republic.

Review that the unsettling for severance in the South-East is incredible, with the require a Biafra country, what began in 1967, when the then Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu of the Nigerian Army, proclaimed a breakaway Biafra State. Despite the fact that the conflict finished in "victor, no vanquish ", the fantasy of certain entertainers in the South-East remaining parts alive and has even gotten seriously compromising. From the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Biafra Independence Movement (BIM), to the presently banished Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), all calling and working for a free Biafra country, it is sure that they can't hold back to 'escape Nigeria'. The Northern pieces of the nation has been a battlefield occasioned by fell security, making life to turn into the least expensive article.

The Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), had for over 10 years tried to build up a caliphate particularly in the North-Eastern piece of the country, a conspicuous require the foundation of a different country where a severe rendition of Islamic Sharia law will take the middle stage. Likewise in the North, explicitly the North-West and the North-Central, psychological militants, normally alluded to as scoundrels, have waged war against the Nigerian state and its residents, encouraging a rule of dread, where residents are either executed or kidnapped enmass voluntarily, while security offices rather look defenseless and government depending on dealings to get the arrival of the people in question. It is that terrible that administrations, in that piece of the nation are at the kindnesses of the desperados, going bereft of all pride to ask for arrival of residents they are intended to shield from any type of mischief.

How Nigeria got to this intersection:

A report by the Strategic Studies Institute (SSI) of the U.S. Armed force War College (USAWC) named 'Reasons for Instability in Nigeria and Its Implications for United States' followed Nigeria's present inconveniences and the dread of Breakup to the pioneer time and the powerlessness of residents to consider themselves to be as Nigerians prior to taking up their ethnic personalities. The 127 page report wrote by Clarence J. Bouchat, a resigned US Air Force Officer peruses to a limited extent: "Nigerians question a bound together Nigeria truly exists. The principal exercise outsiders should realize when managing Nigeria is that the state's separation is a genuine chance if the Nigerian first class fumble an intense emergency or one of Nigeria's constant issues.

"Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, who might turn into Nigeria's first local Prime Minister, summarized concisely numerous Nigerians' questions concerning their country's unification when, in 1948, he declared, "Numerous [Nigerians] bamboozle themselves by feeling that Nigeria is one, this isn't right.

Unfortunately that this presence of solidarity is counterfeit." Although Balewa was from the north, individuals from the entirety of the social gatherings in Nigeria buy in to such questions and advance ethnic, strict, territorial, or different loyalties over those to the country. "The potential for separation is genuine in light of the fact that most Nigerians do not have "an expansive social minimized that would set up agreement on public personality and the significance of citizenship. Without broadly shared qualities or essential loyalty to their country, Nigerians might be needing in the sacred determination expected to defeat their numerous different contrasts and deal with the profound and endemic political and financial issues around which Nigeria is crack.

"The base of these struggles can be followed back to the provincial age when the new political economy lumped the different individuals together in a constrained new friendly intercourse. The recently foisted awareness was promptly misused, bringing about a curved commonwealth, and, right up 'til the present time, most Nigerians keep up more grounded faithfulness to their heredity than to their country. "Join such opinion with a grouping of political breaking, a background marked by common conflict, outside pressing factors, and huge scope interior brutality, and light it with a botched emergency. Free Nigerian discuss partition could incidentally prompt cracking."

From the abovementioned, it apparent that the country's issues have been long in coming, originating before an Independent Nigeria. It will likewise be on the right track to say that Nigerians are the issue of Nigeria, including the pioneers and the drove. A few reporters are of the assessment that with the exception of Nigerians start to consider themselves to be as Nigerians, accomplishing genuine nationhood may toward the end become a simple dream. Mr. Adeolu Oresanya, a public issues pundit is of the view that an immense number of Nigerians, including political pioneers don't basically put stock in the Nigerian country, yet see themselves more in accordance with their clan or nationality.

"The issue with Nigeria is straightforward; you can barely track down a Nigerian. What you see wherever are Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani, Igbo, Ijaw and numerous others. Just a not very many individuals consider themselves to be as Nigerians prior to thinking about their nationality. Furthermore, until we can change this, Nigeria might be damned, since everybody is worried about his ancestral personality and we are altogether just keen on safeguarding our clans and work for the interest of our ethnic affiliations. "It is the very issue that is devastating the organization of President Muhammadu Buhari, with individuals from his piece of the nation taking every one of the touchy situations in the country. It has become a given that whatever arrangement is to be made will undoubtedly be going to a northerner. You can't have such a circumstance and not have individuals upset or have emergency to a great extent. It is this ancestral attitude of the current organization that is causing the various calls for withdrawal in the country. Individuals simply feel that they don't have a place here any longer in light of the fact that the President and his overseers cause them to feel undesirable.

"So you can't fault these fomenters; they have their focuses and obviously, they are supported. I will anyway call of the Buhari organization to tune in to the voices of reason and right all that is isn't right, all that prompted the current tumults and emergency the nation over", Oresanya said. Ruler Dayo Akanmode, a governorship competitor in Kogi State and a previous Deputy Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, is of the view that the majority of the issues prompting apprehension of separation of the nation can be tended to if government will consent to the call for genuine federalism and rebuilding of the country.

Ruler Akanmode said: "As I would like to think, the circumstance in the nation isn't however awful as certain individuals may be painting it. I concur that as far as security, we are at a junction and I likewise recognize the different calls for separation, particularly in the South-East and of late in the South-West. In any case, we should comprehend that a large number of the locales in the South and the North-Central have been bringing for rebuilding throughout the long term. That has been their interest and I accept if government can execute that, every one of the calls for detachment will pass on a characteristic demise.

Just In: Ohaneze fumes over mistreatment and slaughter of igbo youths by the military

OHANAEZE Ndigbo has raised alert over the supposed monstrous capture of Igbo adolescents by the Nigerian armed force and taken to obscure objections.

Ohanaeze said the mass capture is going on in Ohaji and Oguta Communities of Imo State by military faculty accepted to be from 34 Artillery Brigade, Owerri.

The captured young people were claimed to be individuals from Eastern Security Network, ESN, as indicated by the apex Igbo group.

Ohanaeze asked why the military were capturing Igbo young people who bear no arms and permit Fulani herders to move around with AK 47 riffles.

Professor George Obiozor drove Ohanaeze in an articulation endorsed by its representative, Alex Ogbonnia said: "The consideration of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been attracted to progressing enormous captures of Igbo young people by the Nigerian Army.

The report shows that "the military staff, suspected to be driven by the 34 Artillery Brigade, Owerri since Sunday have been capturing male inhabitants and young people, especially in Oguta and Ohaji people group and clasping them into vans and taken to obscure objections".

"The report adds that the military are "caught up with, doing strikes, circumspect hunts and captures of adolescents and occupants who are suspected to be connected to the Indigenous People of Biafra and its security arm, the Eastern Security Network".

"For the aversion of uncertainty, Ohanaeze Ndigbo drove by Prof. George Obiozor is unequivocal about the utilization of guns by unapproved people, bodies or gatherings. Majority rules system, everywhere on the world vests the total expert for the authentic utilization of power in government. We had advised that the select extravagance of AK 47 to the Fulani herders as solicited by Governor Bala Mohammed is contradictory to the ethos of a fair society.

"For the military to capture the Igbo young people without proof of arms, methods for brutality or wrongdoing is apprehensive, unrefined and for the most part unsatisfactory to Ohanaeze Ndigbo. It negates each feeling of common equity and privileges of citizenship for the military to attack some Igbo people group looking for adolescents; the vast majority of whom are splendid college graduates whose general public has kept business and sense from getting having a place. This is adding salt to rotting injury.

"We censure wrongdoing independent of the source. Then again, we remain on a firm wicket that it is savage to capture any Igbo in the pretense of enrollment of a fear monger association except if there is adequate proof of wrongdoing or unlawful ownership of guns.

"We approach the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru to direly stop the influx of captures before it offers catalyst to the proposition by the United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) to offer refuge to individual who effectively and straightforwardly upholds IPOB and prone to be in danger of capture or confinement, and abuse which is probably going to add up to mistreatment".

IPOB replies Presidency, says comment against East deprecatory and upsetting

The Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has replied the federal government of Nigeria known as the Presidency over comment tagged "the animals disturbing the peace of South East".

Remember IPOB which the federal government of Nigeria labeled terrorist was days given asylum by the UK government,

Meanwhile, the press statement issued by IPOB to the presidency through its Media and publicity sectary Comrade Emma powerful reads:

The consideration of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the order and initiative of our extraordinary and unstoppable pioneer, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been drawn ludicrous, deprecatory, flighty and profoundly provocative comments by the Presidency through Garba Shehu that the reestablished tumult for self assurance in the South East was on the grounds that the government had would not share cash to those behind the fomentation. Shehu went further in his reprimands and undermined military activity to pulverize those he alluded to as "the creatures upsetting the tranquility of South East".

We thusly, challenge Shehu to specify those the government has been paying in the South East to drop the unsettling for self assurance. In the event that he neglects to uncover the recognizes of the recipients and proof of such installments, we will take it to be one of the bold untruths which have become the brand name of the Muhamnadu Buhari-drove Fulani-controlled government.

Without representing different defenders of self assurance, we realize that the national administration of Nigeria has been putting forth unglued however pointless attempts to prompt the initiative of IPOB with cash to conceivably drop the mission for Biafran reclamation.

Government has severally however without progress, endeavored to purchase over our chief Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, making him some compelling offers. In any case, if there were any Efulefus strutting self as Igbo pioneer that acepted their offer, we can guarantee them that such Efulefus can't peneterate IPOB. IPOB isn't, has never been, and won't ever be keen on the scraps from national legislature of Nigeria.

We additionally wish to remind the Fulani Presidency that solitary a guaranteed and unreasonable dolt will at any point liken cash to the intention behind the developing tumult for self assurance across Nigeria. In the event that cash is the thing that we need, we realize what to do to get more cash. How frequently in the past did our chief oddball your monetary actuations? On the off chance that you know those individuals that asked the late Buhari, Jubril Al Sudani or Yusuf Abubakar Mohammad for cash, we are beseeching you to kindly distribute their names. As a group, Biafrans are venturesome and we don't think we are behind any area regarding riches and monetary security notwithstanding the abusive arrangements of this 97% versus 5% Government focused against our persevering celebrated children and girls and the monopolistic inclinations of the Fulani Janjaweed.

Our focus on Biafra unsettling is opportunity! We are burnt out on imparting a geological space to psychological militants. We are worn out on being managed by government authorities who feast and wine with psychological militants however mistreat and execute honest political dissidents. We are burnt out on being decided by an administration that pays payoff to crooks, liberates psychological militants however imprisons unarmed nonconformists. We are worn out on abusive government that advances nepotism and shamefulness.

Nothing can change our purpose to liberate Biafra from the Nigeria subjugation. No measure of promulgation by Government can make us adjust our perspective. In the event that Shehu and his Presidency don't have the foggiest idea, BIAFRA is more approaching than they might suspect. The night is far spent, and the new sunrise is practically here with the Rising Sun of our incredible country at the limit!

The danger by the Presidency to arrange military activity to pulverize the creatures upsetting the harmony in South East, has basically affirmed our caution meanwhile that the national government is the one supporting the heightening instability in the zone to give a pardon to another military activity to slaughter more honest Biafrans. It's just appalling that the political first class for their self centered interests have neglected to understand this.

However, we ask the Presidency to initially pulverize the scoundrels and fear based oppressors invading the whole North and center Belt prior to leaving on any military activity in the South East, else they may need to get ready well indeed.
